How to Find Exact Duplicates in iTunes
Here's a useful little article which explains what to do if you have duplicate iTunes media — songs, movies, etc.
In the iTunes File menu you'll find a menu option to show duplicates. This can result in a very long list, many of which may be different versions of the same song, which of course you don't want to delete.
There's a way to find exact dupes instead of near duplicates, but the article only gives the Mac steps. So I thought I'd give you both.
On the Windows version, hold down the SHIFT key and click the File menu. This should give an option for Exact Duplicates.
On the Apple Mac version of iTunes, use the Option key instead. Hold down Option and click File, and you'll see “Show Exact Duplicates”.
Once you click the Exact Duplicates menu option on either type of computer, you'll get a list of all of the exact duplicate songs/videos/etc., and you can then delete any of them by clicking them and pressing the delete or backspace key on your keyboard.
Hope that helps.
