Good News About the Economy - Using the Computer to Make Money
I just stumbled on this and wanted to share it with you. It's not that often these days that you hear *good* news on the TV or radio news, or in the paper. With all of the negativity blasted at us every day, it's nice to take a deep breath, relax, and listen to some good news for once.
Now I'm not going to deny there's lots of problems out there, but this news proves it doesn't have to be that way for everybody if you have your eyes open to opportunities and grab them when you find them.
A little while ago, a man was interviewed on both Fox Business News as well as in the New York Times because he and his brother set up a very simple web site selling, of all things, bird cages...
You may think "so what", but here's the really neat thing: once they got this simple website set up (which actually can be done in a very short period of time, and can be *a lot* easier than you might think) they quickly started making $5,000 to $6,000 a month.
The funny thing was, they didn't even own a bird or a bird cage, and didn't even know that much about birds!
They didn't have to stock the cages or ship them themselves, and only had to put in a few hours of work a week for all of this to happen.
Then they did what got them in a story in the New York Times, and got one of the brothers interviewed on Fox News -- they sold their website for $173,000!
All of this without a lot of work or money needed to get there, and in a bad economy.
Now it seems these same two brothers have laid out a complete end-to-end guide, a series of simple steps that are so easy that you don't need to be a computer or web guru to copy what the two brothers did and have a business of your own that brings in a little extra money each month, or even more.
But because they'd rather focus on making more of these small, easy sites that bring in a steady, reliable source of income for them, it seems they're only keeping the doors open to the opportunity to get this blueprint until the end of Friday March 20.
So if you want to learn more, you'll need to run over there now or you risk being left out.
I've put a link on my site that will take you right to where you can learn more. Just click the link below and go to: http://www.worthgodwin.com/go/nbp.html
It may sound like it's too good to be true, but the fact that they were featured in both the New York Times and Fox Business News kind of speaks for itself (you can see a screen shot of the interview on Fox when you go to the site).
Since this means what they do is for real and obviously works, I wanted to share this with you as soon as I heard about it myself.
I know there's a lot of people on my newsletter who are interested in learning more about making money with the computer and not just surviving, but actually prospering in this bad economic climate. And since there's so little time before they close the doors on this, I wanted to pass it along.

In this newsletter lesson I want to answer a question from Lore Grossman, a very nice lady who lives part time here on the island and who I have helped in person for years now.
Lore has just run into a pretty common problem that she's been lucky enough to avoid before. Maybe it's something you've seen too and have wondered about. Well, in this email I'll explain it for you and help you understand.
------------------------------------------------ Learn the secrets of skyrocketing your computer skills with the five Plain English video lessons you can watch for free by visiting the following address: ------------------------------------------------
Lore writes:
"Worth : I just received an e-mail FROM [here Lore wrote her own email address which I have removed for her privacy] Subject : Tired of waiting for you. I KNOW that I have not send this to myself, and have NOT opened it. Is it dangerous ? what and how should I dispose of it-- and WHO is using my mail ? Upset, Lore"
Well, Lore, it's nothing to worry too much about; it's just spam (i.e. junk email).
I know it seems weird and maybe even kind of worrying that it is coming in seemingly sent from your own email address. This can conjure images of something out of that movie from the late 1970s "When a Stranger Calls" where the call is coming from inside the house.
Actually, it kind of *is* like that, except it's coming from inside your neighbor's house, or your friend's, or somebody who knows you, but not your own "house" (i.e. computer).
What has most likely happened is someone who knows you (or has your email address in their address book at any rate) has probably got an infected Windows PC.
Now Lore is smart enough to be using a Mac, which is basically immune to all current viruses, so it's not her machine that's the problem, nor is it any of her friends who also own Macs.
What a lot of people don't realize is that millions of Windows computers are infected with viruses and worms without the owner even realizing it.
Viruses and worms, by the way, are basically the same thing. The only real difference is you have to open a virus yourself the first time for it to infect your system or try to spread to another, while a worm will spread on its own.
Another thing you may not realize is that most viruses and worms these days are not about big, obvious damage the way they used to be back in the day.
Originally, viruses (I'll just say viruses from now on, but understand I'm including worms in most of what I'm saying) were written to cause as big a problem as possible and basically were designed to get as much attention as possible. A lot of them were written by teenagers, actually, and it was done for much the same reason as someone might "tag" a wall by spray painting graffiti on it -- to show off and let people know they were there.
These days, viruses are now frequently written by programmers who work for criminal organizations (think organized crime).
So they're motivated by profit, and what they try to do is lay low on a person's computer and infect as many other computers in the same sneaky way as possible, and use the resources of the infected computer to do their dirty work.
This could be to harvest personal information for identity theft, or it could be to group thousands of computers together to stage an attack on an important website, or it could be just to send spam to millions of computers, knowing that with millions of emails sent, even if only a tiny percentage of people are willing to click on a link for a purple pill in an email of gibberish, they can still make money.
What they usually do to make it harder to find the source of the spam is they will "spoof" the return address to make it look like it's coming from a different computer. Sometimes this means you end up getting email "from yourself".
And this last option is what Lore has probably run into.
While it may not be trying to sell under the counter meds, and I can't say for sure it came directly from an infected PC, it's some kind of email she should just junk and not read.
The best thing to do with these types of emails where you know it's spam is to use the "junk" or "spam" button in your email program. This will mark the message as junk and in most cases remove it from your inbox at the same time.
Don't ever use the junk or spam button to delete regular emails, since this feature "trains" the computer to automatically junk messages, and if you junk the wrong ones, you'll end up missing important emails from people you want to hear from.

Using Your Computer to Rise Above the Bad Economy
Over the weekend, I mentioned a free call this Thursday, March 5, that is being hosted by Alexandria Brown, where she'll be sharing secrets of how to make your income recession proof, even in a bad economy.
I shared this with you because I know many people come to me to learn computers because they want to know how they can use their computer to make money.
I got a question from Phil Terry, who is one of my personal consulting clients here on the island and I thought I'd share his question and my answer:
Phil wrote: > Worth over the years I have heard and seen so many of these >get rich programs that it is hard for me to get excited about this > one. How do you know her what is her background etc? I am >registered but skeptical.
Hi Phil,
Your being skeptical is totally understandable and a smart response to have. There are a lot of valueless "get rich quick" schemes out there, but she's not offering that. What she's covering in her free call is sound marketing strategies and a basic formula to follow to create a successful information marketing business using your computer.
Essentially, what I do, teaching people computers, is information marketing. In other words, I sell knowledge rather than physical goods like a traditional retailer, and now I have students in dozens of countries around the world thanks to the Internet, instead of just being able to help people within driving distance.
Before you think "but I'm no computer genius," you don't have to be.
Everyone has an area of knowledge that others do not know and wish to learn. These days it's easier than ever to help share your knowledge with others using your computer, and when done right, you're not as affected by the economy the way most people are, so you can have more security and more freedom. You can go into it in-depth like myself, or Ali Brown (and she's no computer expert), or just use it to make a little extra money in your spare time for not too much work.
I first heard about Ali Brown through Dan Kennedy, who is one of the top direct response marketers alive today, with a 40+ year track record. If you haven't heard of him, you've probably seen his work. Maybe you've seen infomercials from Guthy-Renker, mostly for cosmetics and the like, but also for world-famous motivational speaker Tony Robins and others. Guthy-Renker makes $1.3 *billion* a year, and owe much of their success to Dan Kennedy, who's sound marketing and business advice took them from a struggling new company to the powerhouse they are today.
Ali has studied personally with Kennedy, and she has been a successful online marketer for 10-11 years now, with the greatest leap in her income coming from learning and applying Dan Kennedy's methods, which she passes on in her material, added to the lessons she learned as she developed her business.
Basically what she's offering is a blueprint or roadmap to the most direct path to success, avoiding pitfalls and hazards she ran into. Using methods that work, despite all of the economic problems in the world today.
--------------------------------------------------------------- In a hurry? Just go here: http://www.worthgodwin.com/go/ali.html ) ---------------------------------------------------------------
This is a completely free call which you can listen into by phone or on the web (much like my monthly computer Q&A calls, and just like them if you can't make it to the live event you can hear a recording afterwards if you register ahead of time with the link in this email).
I've already signed up for this call and plan to listen and learn since I know that educating myself is one of the most powerful things I can do to empower myself and give myself the freedom to enjoy my life to its fullest.
The call will reveal Ali's business and marketing secrets including:
* The 5 ways you can recession-proof your income... starting today. * Why the Internet is still the BEST way to build a business FAST, and how to get started. * 3 mistakes entrepreneurs make when taking their business online... and how YOU can avoid them. * How to create easy information products that can generate you passive income while you work or play. * How you can claim $500 OFF Ali's brand new 2009 Online Success Blueprint System -- featuring DVDs, CDs, and more!
You'll want to sign up now, before you forget. Here's the link:
I have studied Ali's material myself and am happy I bought them, and with this call you get to learn from her for free.
She's a good teacher and genuinely wants to you get the results you want and need.
So go sign up now before Thursday, March 5 (even if you can't make it to the live event, you'll still get to listen into a recording later and get all the valuable free info).

How Online Banking Can Save You From Being Robbed
A lot of people, especially people like many of my clients who tend to be fairly new to computers or don't feel very knowledgeable, tend to be distrustful of doing business online.
When I say doing business online, in this case I mean dealing with any kind of financial transactions or information (both for personal reasons or for your job or business), including ordering something from a website, or doing online banking.
I wanted to share a few thoughts on this and tell you about an unpleasant surprise I just got recently.
I went to check my business bank account online and saw a pretty big charge that I didn't recognize showing as "in process". In process means that the money hadn't been taken out of my account yet but it is in the process of happening. You don't normally see this on a printed or mailed bank statement, but it's a common enough thing to see when you check your account activity online.
In the description I saw a phone number and decided to Google it to make sure I hadn't somehow forgotten that I'd ordered something. What came up was a website for "Anytime Meds", one of those websites (which can often be pretty shady and risky to buy from) that sells prescription medication.
Now as soon as I saw that I knew the charge was fraudulent since I take care of myself pretty well and am fortunate enough to be healthy and so don't need to take prescription meds (and wouldn't buy them from a random overseas site since they may not be safe to take). So I immediately called my bank and started the process of getting the charges reversed, and had them issue a replacement card as a precaution.
Now if I relied on traditional mailed bank statements, it would have been close to two weeks before I would've found out about the problem, and in that time not only would I have had a lower balance than I thought because of this first charge, but would have had to wait even longer before getting the money back, and might have had even more fraudulent charges put on my card!
Thanks to the fact that I could check my bank account activity instantly online, I was saved what could have been pretty serious problems. So if you've ever been worried about using online banking, ordering online, etc. in many ways it can actually be safer.
For example, people often feel uncomfortable ordering things with a credit card online, but here's the thing -- most theft happens because people are greedy or unethical, right?
Well which is safer then? Using your credit card at a restaurant (where most people never think twice about it) or on a secure website like mine or Amazon.com?
I would say it's using it on a secure website. Why? Think about how easy it could be for a waiter or waitress to pull their cell phone out of their back pocket when they walk off with your card, and snap a picture of it and the number?
Now I'm not saying most wait staff would do this, but it's been known to happen. Somebody gets greedy, or is in a financial fix and makes a bad decision.
On the other hand, I've never heard of a greedy computer.
Here's a few tips to keep you safe:
1) If you use online banking, use a unique username and password that you never use anywhere else. This is always a good idea, but especially here.
2) Many times you are asked if you want to save your password on a website. This is usually OK, but I would never do it on a bank site because if someone gets in front of your computer they are a few clicks away from your bank account! (Listen to my free "Secrets of Computer Security" MP3 for more on this)
Memorize your password instead, at least for this one site.
3) If you order online, all websites accept bank cards with a Visa or MasterCard logo on them, so you don't have to use a "real" credit card. Not only does this save you on interest payments, you can set up a special bank account that you only keep a relatively low balance in. This way in the worst case scenario, you can never be out more than whatever limited amount you've put into that special account.
Hopefully these ideas will help you feel more confident and be more safe on the Internet and in the world.
until next time, take care and enjoy,
Worth Godwin

You hear a lot of doom and gloom stories on the news these days about how bad the economy is. And I know a lot of people are feeling it, so there's no doubt there's truth to it, but don't believe all of it.
Remember -- the news is about ratings these days, so they need to scare you by only talking about the worst things going on, and comparing things now to the Great Depression (even though we're nowhere *near* as bad off now as we were then!)
As a point of fact, despite the incredibly tough conditions of the time, more millionaires were made during the Great Depression than in any other time in U.S. history. Despite the doom and gloom forcasts of the news, Forbes Magazine says 10 million millionaires will be created by the year 2016!
I don't know about you, but I'd rather focus on positive things than listen to a lot of negative talk. I don't know who those ten million new millionaires will be, but I know one thing: those people will be the ones who think positively, believe in themselves, and most importantly, *educate themselves*.
Colonel Sanders was already a grandfather when he started his Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise, and Walt Disney was bankrupt before Mickey Mouse made him a wealthy man, so there's no reason a regular person can't at least live comfortably.
I know there are a lot of people who have come to me to learn computers specifically to help empower themselves with knowledge and skills to make more money (maybe not a million, but enough to relax and enjoy life a little more at least!)
In case you're one of those people, I want to invite you to a FREE teleseminar a very smart and capable entrepreneur named Ali Brown is hosting on Thursday, March 5, called "How to Create Your OWN Strong Economy This Year... With Online Information Marketing."
You may have heard of Ali. She's really shaken up the Internet marketing world by being honest and telling it how it is. And now she's going to do the same about the economy, the recession, and building a business.
On this FREE one-time-only teleseminar, Ali will be sharing her secrets on one of the best business models in the world. It's recession-proof, allows you to control your own income, and hundreds of men and women just like YOU are using it to add hundreds to thousands of dollars to their bottom line each month.
It's called online information marketing and you'll be getting a crash-course so you can start implementing IMMEDIATELY.
On this call you'll learn:
* The 5 ways you can recession-proof your income... starting today. * Why the Internet is still the BEST way to build a business FAST, and how to get started. * 3 mistakes entrepreneurs make when taking their business online... and how YOU can avoid them. * How to create easy information products that can generate you passive income while you work or play. * How you can claim $500 OFF Ali's brand new 2009 Online Success Blueprint System -- featuring DVDs, CDs, and more!
You'll want to sign up NOW before you forget. Here's the link:
I have studied Ali's material myself and I can vouch for the quality of her information. She's a good teacher and really wants to see her students get the results they want and need.
I plan to join in on the call so I can learn more myself, because I recognize the value in knowledge because it is the one thing that will empower you more than anything else to reach your life goals and dreams.
Hope to "see" you on the call!
Take care, and enjoy,
Worth Godwin

It's about 12:30am as I write this and I'm at the end of a long day spent updating the Gold Club member area of my website fixing a few broken pages, adding a bunch of new video lessons, and improving the organization of it to make it easier to use.
Over the last few days I've been trying to juggle my usual giant workload while spending time with my mom who flew out here to Hawaii all the way from upstate New York last-minute (I only found out 48 hours before she arrived!).
It's been two years since my parents or I have been able to see each other in person, although as I've mentioned in previous newsletters we do talk via video chat, which is far better than nothing, or even a phone call, but still not quite the same as being there in person.
Anyway, I wanted to write up and send out another newsletter, answering a question that was sent in a while back by a Gold Club member named Harley.
Harley's question was: "Dear Sir My name is Harley Nickless, I just joined your gold club. and I have a question, I have a Mac computer, and I have a Compaq lap top, I lost my disk from my lap top, to hook up to my printer, I wanted to print from my laptop, question do I have to get a disk to get my printer to work? thank you Harley"
What you're asking about Harley is something called a driver disk. A driver, for those who aren't completely sure what the term means, is like an interpreter.
Think of a foreign diplomat who comes to a country but doesn't speak the same language. What do they do? They use an interpreter to help them communicate.
This is exactly what a driver does, and without it, different devices (such as printers) just won't "talk" to your computer. Drivers tend to come with the printer loaded on a CD, but that's not the only option.
Now chances are, since Harley uses both a Mac and a Windows PC, if he hooked the printer up to his Mac it would just set up the driver pretty much instantly and automatically (this is true 95% of the time) and wouldn't need the disk in the first place.
But in this case, Harley wants to hook the printer up to his Windows computer, and 95% of the time you do need to install the driver one way or another with a Windows PC (pretty much opposite of the Mac experience in other words).
So what do you do if you don't have the CD?
Well, thanks to the Internet, there's a solution: you can always get drivers for printers and other devices by going to the manufacturer's website and downloading it. It's free, and pretty easy to do.
Because I saw Harley's question when he sent it in a little while back, I actually recorded a video lesson on just how to do this for the February Gold Club monthly shipment which Harley and the other Gold Club members will be getting this coming week.
But the basic steps are to go to the manufacturer's website, which usually is just the name of the company .com -- i.e. hp.com epson.com, etc.
Then you want to look near the top of the page for "Driver downloads" "Downloads" or "Support" (it varies from company to company, but it's usually one of those three variations) and that will take you to a page where you can type in the exact model name and number of the printer from the label on the front of the printer, and hit a button to search. This will then give you a list of results. You will then either have to click a link to chose your operating system (like Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS 10.5, Mac OS 10.4, etc.) or scroll down the page and look for whatever operating system you have, then chose the driver listed with the most recent date, and there will be a download link or button to click.
This will save the driver to your computer, and then you can double-click it to run the installer and pretty much follow the prompts and make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on unless the on-screen instructions say otherwise.
Then with a few clicks and a few moment's patience, you're up and running and ready to print!
This same process is also useful when you've upgraded to a new computer (or just updated to a new version of Windows or Mac OS X) and need a newer version of the driver to get the printer to work.
I hope that makes sense and helps. It's not always as easy to follow these kind of steps without seeing them on the screen in front of you, but that's why I made my easy video computer lesson CDs.
