The Secret That Makes Your
Makes computers easy
My name is Worth Godwin, and I've been helping people with their computers for over fifteen years now, and I've seen thousands of people who call themselves "dummies" or "idiots," when it came to computers, even though they were perfectly bright people who were definitely not stupid.
I've seen the same thing over and over again: from fishermen and farmers, to confident business owners and college professors.
All of them, no matter how good they were at other skills and in different parts of their lives, they felt like complete idiots when they sat down in front of a computer and tried to use it.
The problem was not that any of these people were dumb. Far from it.
The problem was, they never had been taught in a way that actually worked!
I've been working one-on-one with people, thousands of them over the years, and I dedicated myself to to improving my teaching skills, not just my technical skills.
But sometimes it seemed like it was never enough.
I figured out ways to explain things to people that really and truly made sense: comparing an email server to a post office, your email account to the post office box, and the password to the key, for example.
When I explain things this way, people just get it.
It takes the "technobabble" and ties it to something in the real world that you can relate to.
And that helped people a lot. But the big problem was, the way people learn is a process: we start out focused on the tiny little details, and it takes a while to get better at things, and understand them more, so we can start thinking on a bigger level; we can finally see the big picture.
Think about when you learn to drive a car: you start out thinking about how much to turn the wheel, when to press the gas, when to press the brake, how much to press the brake...
When you're thinking at that level, the first time you drive on a busy road, it can be a little overwhelming, and it can seem almost impossible to do.
But with a little practice, you stop thinking about how to drive, and just start driving.
Soon it seems like you've always been driving; it comes so naturally. If someone asked you how you drove to work, but wanted to know when you pushed the brake, how hard you pushed it, when and how hard you pushed the gas pedal, or any other question about the little details and the little steps of driving, you probably wouldn't have any idea how to answer the question.
When you stop thinking about how you do something, and just start doing it, that's when you're really good at a skill.
This is true of anything, whether it's driving a car, or using a computer.
Unfortunately, since most computer consultants are good at computers, the only way they can explain things is at the level they think at. This is like a driving instructor getting in a car with a brand new first-time driver and telling them "oh, just drive into town" and thinking that would actually work.
But it just doesn't work, and if the student driver didn't have any other options or anywhere else to turn to, they'd probably end up feeling pretty frustrated and might even call themselves dumb.
It took me years, and a lot of practice, but I learned how to teach people using plain English, explaining things at the "little steps" level. Because I could do this, I've been told by more people than I can count, that I've helped them more than anybody else ever has.
It wasn't easy for me to learn, but I did. But then I realized, that was the easy part!
The real problem that I realized I needed to solve, the one that nobody seemed to have a solution for, was how to not only give simple step by step instructions, and not only how to explain things in an easy, understandable way, but how to tie it all together.
When people learn, it's like they're walking up a hill.
With each step, you get further up the hill, and you can see a little farther. But you can't always find the path alone, so you need a hand to guide you further along, farther up the hill, so you can really start to see all the possibilities stretching out around you, and finally understand how it all fits together.
Sometimes I felt like I was way up the hill, and I'd figured out how to run back down the hill and start to lead someone up along the path to really mastering their computer, but I was never able to take them more than a few steps before I had to stop.
Then when I saw them again, the person I was trying to help had either stayed exactly where I'd left them, or had even accidentally walked back down the hill a little ways!
What was happening was a client would call me and book me for a lesson. Now, consultants are expensive, so people naturally try to get as much out of the lesson as they can by trying to cover as much as possible in just an hour or two.
But as you probably know from experience, that doesn't really work that well -- if you try to learn too much at once, it just goes in one ear and out the other, and a lot of it just doesn't sink in.
And anybody who's taken computer classes can tell you those aren't any better.
As a matter of fact, scientists and top educators have discovered that because of the way that the human mind works, we all learn best in lessons that are about thirty minutes long, or shorter.
If we try to learn in lessons that drone on for an hour or two or three, our brains are physically wired to not take in any more after a while.
So more often than not, people end up throwing away money on consultants. It's not that the consultants don't know what they're doing, or that they're trying to keep you in the dark -- it's just that the basic idea of learning computers the old way is completely flawed.
And this was the wall I was banging my head against in frustration for years as I tried to help people. I was able to help them, but never enough. Never as much as I wanted to help them, or as much as they needed.
But I finally found a solution: it took me years of studying, and once I figured out the basic idea, it took me the better part of a year to really put it together.
I've created a revolutionary new system -- which is designed to not only show you step-by-step instructions, or explain things in a way that really does make sense -- but to also tie all the learnings, all the lessons together to really boost you farther up that hill than you ever thought possible.
So you're able to look back on all you've learned, and look forward to everything you're finding yourself able to do, and everything you suddenly know you'll be able to do in the future.
To feel a sense of confidence, to realize you really aren't a dummy after all.
This is what I've been striving to do for my clients over the years, and it feels really good to have finally discovered the perfect way to do it.
This is what I've been striving to do for my clients over the years, and it feels really good to have finally discovered the perfect way to do it...
You get to learn at your own pace, following easy *video* lessons. Each lesson is short -- 30 minutes or less, most just 5-10 minutes long -- and you can watch and learn on your own schedule, at your own pace, in a relaxed and easy way.
“My name is Judi Nakamaru, I’m a retired dental hygienist, I’m a mom. I’m beginning to enjoy my computer more and more because of the lessons and experience I’ve had with Worth teaching me about my computer.
The CDs are helping me because the lessons are short – I can use them any time of the day or night that I need them...
I’m in my own comfort zone. I’m not feeling rushed. I know we all have a busy life, but I’m definitely not feeling rushed.
I can fit them in when it’s convenient for me.
I don’t know if you’re like me, but I’m computer and electronically generally challenged...
I found that these CDs and these lessons are just exactly what I needed.
my ability, my frustration level, anything you want to call it.
"My name is Gina Eveland, and I'm retired from teaching.
It's easier for me to understand a lesson that Worth gives because he uses analogies I can relate to.
With each lesson, I felt better about what I was doing on the computer.
So I feel much more comfortable about the computer."
“One of the most wonderful things that has happened to us was to find Worth Godwin, who has helped us with our computer.
I don’t know to this day if I’d be using it at all if his methods of teaching had not been able to hit my brain right where it was needed.
The problem that I was having, was trying to concentrate on a long lesson... I found my brain getting tired, and this new program, the parts of them [the lessons] are quite short and you can adjust them to your own time.
They are available to you anytime you want, and if you run into a problem, they’re right there to go back and help you in very plain English, answering what problems you had.
His new program is wonderful!"
“I’m Oliver Hutaf, and I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. I’ve known Worth
Godwin for years, I’ve dealt with him frequently. He is a total professional, he’s easy to understand.
His new program, I know he’s put his life’s work into them. They’re a great value, they’re really good. You can follow them well, and in addition to being extremely instructive, they are very enjoyable.
I have just learned so much from him, and I want to say I totally recommend the new CD program, that it is a good good value, and most enjoyable.
I’ve just never been a person with any mechanical skills. In fact, in the company that I ran, they wouldn’t even let me in the computer room.
And I have made such wonderful progress in dealing with Worth Godwin, that I just want to pass that along.
Because it’s been such a wonderful thing in my life.”
“I’m Kevin Nakamaru, I’m a charter skipper. The reason that I had to commit to learning my computer, was it was important to my boss... It wasn’t my favorite thing to do.
Before I had these lessons, I found myself feeling very frustrated and I didn’t like the computer. I felt intimidated by how much it could do, and how little I could do
The simple, easy computer lessons helped me understand the little bits I needed to learn to make the whole thing a lot more enjoyable for myself.
The best part about learning is that it’s clear, simple, simply explained, and in terms that I understand. I’m able to go back, look at my lesson, follow the easy instruction, and I’m able to finish what I’m looking to get done.
Because of my busy schedule, I get frustrated easily, I need to move on, I need to get things done. The quick, easy lesson helps me to get done in a reasonable amount of time and move on with what I need to do.
really helped, and I really appreciate them for what they’ve
done for me.”
“I’m a senior citizen, and I really am a computer idiot. I have always been afraid of the computer, and I’ve been worried that I’d do something horrible to it.
But after buying Worth’s CDs, and looking at his lessons, I tell you I feel empowered, I feel as if I can do it, and it’s just like a whole new me. I can’t tell you how good I feel about it!
I am so glad that I got Worth’s CDs – I can’t tell you how wonderful it is...
I can understand Worth’s really clear explanations. It’s just absolutely wonderful. I feel so empowered, and I can actually do it!
My self esteem has risen... I think it’s just great.
I would recommend Worth’s clearly explained course to anybody, especially somebody who’s as unknowledgeable as I am!”
"My name is Linda Costa. I'm retired, and I'm a new computer user. I learned just the basic skills when I purchased my computer, and I always wanted to get better at it.
Worth uses plain English so you can understand what he's teaching you, and he uses everyday examples.
When I first started using my computer... I was very unsure of it. I was reluctant to push any of the buttons, and I was afraid that what I might do would cause lots of problems.
Because of Worth's video computer lessons I am now much more confident and secure in knowing that when I do something with the computer, I'm not going to get myself in trouble.
Worth's computer lessons are for people just like me. People who are afraid to push buttons, afraid they'll get in trouble with the computer.
After his course, I now know I can push buttons with confidence, and I know where the computer is going.
